It's been so long since my last post, my facebook has replaced the ol' journal. But, just minutes ago, I had a gripe... One that I think only I would be interested in. So, I figured I'd blow the dust off, and ramble for a bit.
A while back, I ordered Murder, My Dear Watson: New Tales of Sherlock Holmes. Knowing how I sporadic I can be with reading... It sat undisturbed on my shelf for some time. I just began reading it, and I wanted to jam a pencil in my eye socket. It is a collection of stories, written by authors that I have never heard of. Which isn't really a problem, except for the fact that I expect a certain structure and flow to a Holmes story. I got eleven pages into the first "Tale", and nothing...
The story centers around Watson, which again isn't a problem, because Conan Doyle did it for most of a novel, and it was still interesting. He explains about some girlfriend he had when he got injured in the war, and that she had his baby, and her family threw her out, and he gets some letter about a medical study for this disease, and tests himself, and it's positive, so he thinks he's dying, and gets life insurance. Oh, and there's a comet, where I gave up, he was at a concert hall, and young Moriarty is giving a lecture about the d@&$ thing.
That was ELEVEN PAGES! It's a short story!! How long does it have to keep you interested, 20-30 minutes at most! I completely understand what Mr. Pockets was saying about the pacing in my comic now. And the thing that pains me most is, there are like ten other stories they could've led with, and I don't have a clue if they're any good, because the first one sucks!
That's all for now, I've been so bored lately, I'll find something else to complain about soon.

It's been so long since my last post, I couldn't think of a good title. Anyway, for some reason, my web browser downgraded itself, I'm not sure how... but now Facebook chat has to open another window, it's kind of annoying. At some point this weekend, I have designs to watch Saw V, I also have baseball to watch. George Moneybags bought plenty of talent for this season, this doesn't really make sense to me either. The Yankees have become steadily more and more disappointing since Joe Torre got fired.
I've been waiting for some packages in the mail, as always. I have JLA: Year One on the way, along with the brunt of Mr. Pocket's Birthday gifts. I have plenty of reading to do: Iron Man. Justice League(for some reason the word league always looks misspelled to me), Martian Manhunter, etc. I did have a fizzle of a comic idea the other day. It's been so long, I forgot when to shut up. I'll post again when I have something useful to say...

Whew! Trying times, having no internet for a month and a half. Well, I got it back, sort of... My dad's computer has given me the ability to whine again! If only on a somewhat limited basis.
Anyway, Jim Gaffigan was AWE-SOME!! Even considering the amount of walking I had to do. I was sidelined after the fact for three days, (easily) and unable to even take off my good shirt. And, no I don't have only one, I have two (at the moment). What do you think I am a redneck? The show was great, I could hardly contain myself. After Jim's set, Mr. Pockets and I made our way to the elevator, and miscellaneous fat people tagged along. Then, we stood in a surprisingly short line to meet Jim. I was glad it was short, cause I felt like I was going to die (though I felt that more so when we arrived at Will Call, and waited like twenty-five minutes for some obviously drunken @ss and his peeved girlfriend to argue with the poor ticket guy).
Anyway, so I buy me a poster and get up to Jim, and he was taller than I expected, and my brain died. He asked me my name, and I (to my credit and surprise) responded correctly before I was abandoned again. I stared blinking for like 10-15 seconds until he said,"Do you want me to sign your ticket, or something?". Then, the floodgates opened and I rattled on about what a big deal it was for me to get there, and how happy I was to be out and about. I told him how I took the bus in, and battled an escalator to see him, to which he replied,"Those escalators can be tricky". I don't get how Mr. Pockets puts up with me, it seems when we go places together, he gets treated like my seeing-eye hamster. But that's my perspective, maybe he has a different take.
So closes the Chronicle of Gaffigan. I want to get tickets next time he's in our area, if only to support a great comedian, and apologize for my pathetic brain death.

I BEAT FIRE EMBLEM:RADIANT DAWN!!!! You can't imagine how good it feels to write that! Seeing as how I'd been playing the d@mned game for 7 months off and on? (If I had just played it, with no other games to distract me, I might've gone insane).
So, what's the Verdict?? It kinda sucked... The whole four parts four parties thing was stupid. I didn't even get to play as Ike until part 3. The bosses were kind of cool, and even on normal mode it was insanely hard. Permanent death took 3 of my characters, 2 of which were dragons, and sacrificed their lives so I could beat the last boss. Voice acting by pretty much everyone but Ike was stiff and craptacular. There were more cut-scenes, and the narrator between missions was cool. I'm pissed there was no congratulations screen when I beat it. It seems to me like Mr. Pocket's paid someone to torture me to death and I lived through it, there might be congratulations in order. I'm not sure what beating it unlocked, I'm just glad I can say I did, I'm gonna leave it be for quite some time.

So, recently I've been worried about my prospective art style. I've been trying to get more of an American influence... Unfortunately, prior to this month, the only thing I read that's American is Ultimate Spider-Man (and 300). And, while it is a great comic, it's not necessarily one to build my style as a whole. So, I went on the hunt for some good GNs (that's graphic novels for those who don't know). I picked up and devoured Spider-Man: Blue, and Marvel Visionaries: Stan Lee.
Why Stan Lee? You're saying (to yourself) that he's not an artist, he's a writer. Well, you see, Stan Lee has certain qualities that I'm trying to emulate somewhat. See, he is a writer, but he's also a franchise. That is amazing to me. That, coupled with his sheer niceness. Nice guys finish last, they say. So when I find that some succeed, I tend to gravitate toward them. I myself am a nice guy, you see. So, Stan Lee, Yogi Berra, Jackie Chan, and Gary Oldman (stop me here if I forgot someone) are pretty high on my list.
Anyway, back to the original topic. When I ran out of ideas (Frank Miller, Tim Sale, and Stan Lee are great, but it's a short list) I turned where I always do when comics are involved, Biggest Brudder! He gave me a short, but great list of obscure comics (and I only use that word because I wouldn't have found them by myself). His list includes Preacher(Vol. 1 was great), Transmetropolitan (got Vols. 1&2, Spider is a wonderful bastard, we could be related), and Battle Chasers (I'm gonna get the collection when it goes down in price a bit). He also suggested Sin City, which I'll get around to...
So, the process is slow, but I have to remember I'm breaking ground. I've got to do everything, with naught but Mr. Pockets to filter. Story and Art by (me), a silly way for this to start, but it grows more and more viable every day. Who knows?

Recently, I've had a few ideas. Created some new characters, and in general, changed the original concept of the comic into something much more real. Then again, that depends on how you define "real".
Anyway, aside from comic things, I've done quite a bit in actual life. First and foremost, I got tickets to see Jim Gaffigan (me and Mr. Pockets). It's a long way off though, but I'm really looking forward to it. I also got to read Stan Lee's biography, and I started reading Super Heroes and Philosophy. I figured they'd give me some idea of what I'm getting into.
I also got to hang out with a long lost friend, and we (Mr. Pockets included) figured out that apparently I was cloned to do voice-overs for the dub of Golden Boy. It was disturbing to say the least. Oh, and I STILL didn't see The Dark Knight. When I had the money my brother and sister were all, "DVD!!".
On the video game front, I beat Final Fantasy III. Took me long enough, right? Don't expect me to say I beat Fire Emblem any time soon, that game was coded by Satan himself... It's pure evil I tell you!! But, I did see a Fire Emblem DS page on GameFaqs so I can bring torture with me, YAY! I'm looking forward to Dragon Quest IV, and Swords(When I beat F.E.) not to mention DQ IX, Final Fantasy V, and Front Mission. Square Enix wants all my money.
I also started T'ai Chi, and yes it kicks my crippled @ss. But with that, a treadmill, and the Perfect Pullup, I might not die in three months when Jim rolls around. Oh, and I'm currently obsessed with Avatar: The Last Airbender. I got the first two seasons already. Iroh is the master of all. Waiting for House Season 4 in the mail.

Well, remember some time ago, I said I'd come up with better storyline than Shonen Jump? Guess what?? I think I did. It has been quite a while since I made a post 'specially about my comic. The only thing stopping me from testing it out is my current drawing ability. Most of the main characters are conceptually on paper, and their universe is expanding.
The storyline has become solid(er?) and much more funny. There will come a day when I can draw this, and hopefully make some money... not that money really matters, I want to make a story so original it makes people wonder if I did drugs. When of course I never would, and never have. Then, I want to go back to RHS and shove it in my teachers' faces, there were a few who I'm sure think I'll never amount to anything. When I was there, my brain was thinking outside the walls anyway. I'm sure people thought I was mentally asleep... which isn't that far off.
However, my Creative Writing teacher was encouraging,(I'm sure Mr. Chelik would say something like, "Took you long enough!") in fact all my English teachers were, apart from the one I didn't like.

So, recently we had a massive blackout (We had no power for like 2.5 days). Then, we got power back, and like every expensive electronic thingy exploded. We lost the fridge, and the good DVD player, the microwave, and my Wii. Thankfully, Mr. Pockets came over on Monday/Tuesday and confirmed that the A/C adapter had bricked itself.
So, I called Nintendo (the Wii is still under Warranty), and just like that they mail me a new one. It's awesome I know, but it's not arriving until Wednesday. Until then, I remain bored...

It's been quite some time since my last post... and pretty much everything is the same, only better. The treadmill is working just great, in fact this past Tuesday, I walked 2 miles. 'Course I couldn't move yesterday... anyway on to Wii related news.
My family has been pestering me about some new games. Most commonly Super Busy Hospital 3 (a.k.a. Trauma Center: New Blood) the reviews on Amazon are pretty good, so I might get it in June. Everybody says it's really hard, but it should be entertaining watching me suck.
Also, I saw the Prince of Persia trailer on X-Play today. It was a disappointing far cry from the cel-shaded concept art Mr. Pockets told me about. Oh, and that original storyline *shudder* light vs. dark oh boy! Where do they come up with this? Not to mention that the main character(I assume it was the main character) looked not unlike Ryu from Ninja Gaiden. When he said cel-shaded I was keen for a change, then I saw THAT crap and wanted to cry. Good thing it's not coming to the Wii!!

So, I haven't updated in a few weeks... Well, this past Saturday, I did something worthy of an entry. I went with Mr. Pockets to the Beacon Theater in NYC for Video Games Live. It was a great show with orchestrated music from the greater video games of my memory. They went from Pong and Donkey Kong to Metal Gear to Final Fantasy to Super Mario and Zelda.
I even got to meet Martin Leung(who brought the house down playing the music of Final Fantasy... my hands were red from applause) and Tommy Tallarico (who is much cooler in person than the TV led me to believe). After the fact, I wanted to play Metal Gear, so I ordered the Collection for PS2. It really is something when the music of such great series are played live with no graphics to overshadow them.

Well, I finally beat Final Fantasy IX, which joins VII and IV as the conquered few. Of course I've almost beaten a few more... III and V are/were (respectively) within my grasp. I don't care for VI or VIII, but one day I'd like to say I've beaten I-V. but now, my attention turns back to Fire Emblem and Zelda. With hopes that Guitar Hero III will follow.

So, now I'm 20, and it's okay. My brother says I can use "back in the day" whenever I want, that's about all that changed...
What have I been up to? Reading books, playing video games, watching movies, oh and drawing is picking up. Baseball season starts at 7:05 tonight, I draw when the action slows up. I finished "Babe: The Legend comes to Life" this passed Friday. I learned tons of stuff I never knew about Babe Ruth. At some point this week, I'm going to start either "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin" or "The Iliad" probably the latter, I've been reading too much Non-Fiction lately.
On the gaming front, I'm halfway through Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It's cool, but frustrating, more so than Path of Radiance, and I'm only on normal. Final Fantasy IX is nearing completion. That's all for now.

Its been a while since my last post. But there's nothing major to report, I've mostly been reading, and thinking up a new title for my journal. It's a good thing I have upwards of two weeks to ponder. I'll have been alive for two decades, and apart from my comic, I've got no "real" ideas about the future. I can't even look back to reflect on what I've done, because I haven't done much of anything. I suppose there are more useless individuals than myself out there, so for the time being I'll just "keep on, keepin' on" as it were.
On a lighter note, baseball season starts really soon. That's something I'm looking forward to. Meh.

Are you kidding me? What kind of evil spawned this abomination? Seriously, this is the beginning of the end, it has to be. That's all I've got to say.

So, some little stuff going on. A few comic ideas, and MLB Power Pros. Mostly bored. Oh and my belt exploded, now it's a sorry mass of frayed leather and string. I tossed it out, and just ordered a new one... hopefully less disappointing. I got around to Saw IV the other day, it was pretty good. Can't think of much else to say.

Yep, lots of things happened in the past 24 hours. Most of it was productive, in a sense? I got the Excel Saga Complete Collection, and though it's too goofy for direct influence, it has helped. I think I'm almost done with Mr. Pockets' character, after weeks of drawing and re-drawing, I think I got his hair right. Which is funny, because he suggested the means to draw it.
Excel Saga is great so far, I'm 10 episodes in, and I don't regret the purchase at all. I got around to new music, and I have books coming too. With a new episode of House tonight, this week is shaping up nicely. It's like my spirit is renewed, I've even started using my good sketch pencils. I actually feeling kinda good about my artwork, if you'd call it that, I still suck at drawing.

Well, about twenty minutes ago, I beat Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. So, what's the verdict? It was better than Front Mission 4, but due to the frustration factor... I'd say they're about the same. There were only 29 levels, but the permanent death thing made the reset button a friend of mine. There was also a defined last boss, unlike FM4, which just had a giant tank-like thing that I beat in one try.
The boss, had boss like stats, and 50 friends that wanted a piece of me. Oh, and I beat him on my 4th try, again the permanent death thing. Also, there's a reason for New Game +. Apparently there's bonus items for character growth, and if you beat it so many times, there's hidden characters. Not to mention that I unlocked bonus maps and whatnot. Over all, I'm very satisfied. I want to beat it again(on Hard this time), and I'm looking forward to Radiant Dawn. S'all for now!

So, what have I been up to lately? Well, for starters, I'm almost done with Fire Emblem. Just a handful of levels left before total victory, but I want to go back in afterward to beat it on Hard. Also, I've all but figured out Mr. Pockets' character, I just have to get the hair to look right. I filled up the rest of my composition book with drawings, so next up is a real drawing pad. I developed some comic concepts too, but nothing really big. I think I've got a new character brewing for a new story-arch. Other than that, not much...

So, I ordered some stuff recently, mostly Gamecube gear so I can play Fire Emblem. Well, the game showed up last Wednesday, and I still don't have the memory card or controller! To top it off, the memory card left the next town over FIVE DAYS AGO!!! So where is it? I dunno, but I'm getting... understandably angry? I can't leave feedback for the game until I know it works, and I really want to play it. I just feel bad for the guy waiting for my feedback.
That's really all I've got to say.

So, I've been playing Zelda to death, trying to make a dent in progress. Thankfully, I got the Master Sword today, and now I can't get stuck in useless dog form. So what if it's supposed to be a "wolf", it looks like my dog, okay? My notes so far, dungeons are awesome, stupid animals suck(Why do they bother with a horse? Give me some running shoes any day), how 'bout a COMPLETE TUTORIAL(they neglect too much with the beginning of the game), and fishing still rules!
Now, in other Wii news... I found Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on ebay for a decent price. This is the one game that makes me wish I kept my Gamecube for more than ten days. Love them tactical games, I also know it won't suck. I've had experience with the series on GBA. The stuff that's hard to find is always worth playing, take FF VII for example. I dare you to find a PS1 copy south of $65 on Amazon. Hopefully, different game-play will make me less bored of Zelda. Even great games in large doses... meh.
